Public Notice
Emergency Declaration Lifted

June 10, 2019, 3:00 pm

On June 10, 2019,  Mayor Joanne Savage lifted the Emergency Declaration for the Municipality of West Nipissing that was declared under the Emergency Management & Civil Protection Act, on May 9, 2019. Lake Nipissing’s water level has receded to an average of 196.30 m.  While some areas in the community remain impacted by high water levels, the flooding conditions are anticipated to improve over the coming days.

Road closures for Hillman Road and Avenue du Lac have been lifted as of June 10, 2019.  All other road closures remain in effect.  Motorists are reminded to adhere to road closure signs until further notice.

For safety reasons, boat launch availability is still limited. The Secondary Boat Launch in Cache Bay and the launch at Minnehaha Bay remain available for the public. Boaters are urged to navigate respectfully to limit wake and to be cautious of floating debris.

The Municipality will continue to provide support to affected residences and will monitor levels closely. Emergency Services and Operations Crews will continue to patrol and assess the conditions of roads.

We will provide updates as new information becomes available.

For any flood-related concerns or inquiries, residents can contact us at 705.753.1171.
