At the Special Council Meeting on June 15, Norman Roberge was appointed as the Councillor for Ward 7, filling the existing vacant seat for the remainder of the term.

Norman Roberge has over 12 years of political experience, serving as the Ward 7 Councillor for three consecutive terms. Throughout his career, Mr Roberge has worked in the public sector for municipalities in different capacities and has participated on various boards and committees. He is currently a member of the Agricultural Advisory Committee, Planning Advisory Committee, Committee of Adjustments, and Cemetery Board. 

The Municipality of West Nipissing extended a call for nominations to fill the vacant council seat for the remainder of the 2018-2022 term. Interested applicants were invited to apply by June 6, 2022. The Municipality received six (6) applications total.

At a special meeting on June 9, candidates had an opportunity to address Council and answer questions during an interview process. Council deferred the decision to appoint a candidate to June 15, during which the voting process was conducted by ballot and led to a tie breaker by draw. 

The appointment process was live-streamed and is available on the Municipality‚Äôs Youtube Channel.

Mr Roberge will take his oath of office on June 21, 2022.
