What’s Open
Museum Trails
The nature trails at the Sturgeon River House Museum are open. Please be mindful of the seasonal conditions, dress accordingly, and maintain a physical distance of at least 2 metres from others.
Parks and Playgrounds
The play structures are not sanitized, you may use these amenities at your own risk. Please bring hand sanitizer and maintain physical distancing. Children should be supervised by a parent or guardian.
What’s Closed
Municipal Outdoor Rinks and Sliding Hills
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) is requiring all outdoor public ice rinks, tobogganing hills and skating trails on public property across the district to be closed, effective January 14, 2021.
Municipal Office (In-person visits)
In-person services at the Municipal Office will be unavailable until further notice. For services or information, residents may contact the Municipality by telephone at 705-753-2250 or by email to support@westnipissing.ca
Recreational and Cultural Facilities
The Pool and Fitness Centre at the Community and Recreation Centre will be closed to the public for the duration of the shutdown.
The Verner Fitness Room is closed until further notice. Pool and fitness activities are available at the West Nipissing Community and Recreation Centre.
The Sturgeon Falls and Verner Arenas will be closed effective Saturday, December 26 for the duration of the lockdown.
The Sturgeon River House Museum is closed until further notice. Nature trails are still available.
Waste & Recycling Services
The Sturgeon Falls Landfill be closed to the general public for the duration of the shutdown. The free Saturday of the month will be rescheduled, stay tuned for details. All other landfills will remain open as they serve residents who do not have curbside pickup community-wide.
The Municipal Office will be closed to all walk-in visits for the duration of the provincewide lockdown (in effect on December 26, 2020).

Making Payments
When possible, residents are asked to use alternatives for making payments such as paying online through your financial institution, at a banking machine, or by using the drop-box located at the front of the Municipal Office.
As of July 24, 2020, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has mandated the use of a face covering in enclosed public spaces.
