Registration
Drop-ins are now welcome for Adult Leisure, Open Swim, Open Lap, and Parents & Tots sessions. Family Swim, Public Swim and Aquafit require pre-registration. This can be done any time by phone or in person at the Recreation Centre.

Adult Lap Swim
The pool is reserved for individuals aged 16 or older to swim laps for fitness. The sauna and whirlpool are open for use.
Parent & Tot
Caregivers with babies/toddlers aged 6 years or younger can make use of the wading pool and whirlpool for a relaxed swim. Parent/caregiver ratio of two swimmers to one supervisor is enforced. Supervisors must accompany swimmers in the water at all times.
Adult Leisure Swim
The pool is reserved for individuals aged 16 or older to swim in a relaxed manner, stretch or float in the pool. Lap swimming is not permitted.
Open Lap Swim
The pool is reserved for any individuals wishing to swim laps for fitness. The sauna and whirlpool are open for use. Young swimmers must be able to successfully complete the facility swim test in order to participate in Open Lap Swim. Parent/caregiver ratios apply for swimmers under the age of 10 (two swimmers to one parent/caregiver).
Family Swim
The pool is open for any parents/caregivers accompanying children. Unattended children are not permitted to use the pool at this time. Admission standards are in place and parent/caregiver ratios apply for families making use of the pool. Children age 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the pool with them at all times. The sauna and whirlpool are open for use.
Public Swim
Any swimmers wishing to make use of the pool are welcome to attend. Admission standards are in place and parent/caregiver ratios apply for families making use of the pool. Children age 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the pool with them at all times. The sauna and whirlpool are open for use.

Deep Water Bootcamp
High-intensity cardio and strength training in the deep end of the pool. Participants will gain strength and endurance through timed interval drills using water resistance and a variety of aquatic fitness equipment.
Intensity: HIGH
Duration: 45 minutes
Swimming ability: HIGH – Class takes place in deep water. Participants must be able to support their own head above the surface of the water for short periods of time without a flotation device.
Deep Water Cardio
A moderate-intensity cardio and resistance training class in the deep end of the pool. Participants will use water resistance as well as a variety of aquatic training equipment to build stamina and strength. A moderate degree of comfort in the water is required to participate in this class.
Intensity: Moderate
Duration: 45 minutes
Swimming ability: HIGH – Class takes place in deep water. Participants must be able to support their own head above the surface of the water with a flotation device.
Shallow Water Strength & Cardio
A moderate to high intensity cardio and strength training class in the shallow end of the pool. Participants must be comfortable standing, walking, running and crouching in shallow-to-chest-deep water.
Intensity: Moderate to high
Duration: 45 minutes
Swimming ability: LOW – Class takes place in waist and chest-deep water.
Shallow Water Strength & Cardio
A moderate intensity cardio and strength training class in the shallow end of the pool. Participants must be comfortable standing, walking, running and crouching in shallow-to-chest-deep water.
Intensity: Moderate to high
Duration: 45 minutes
Swimming ability: LOW – Class takes place in waist and chest-deep water.
Stretching and Mobility
A low intensity class that focuses on regaining mobility, rehabilitation of injuries and zero-impact exercises. Participants must be comfortable in shallow and chest-deep water. This class is followed by half an hour of open swim.

Duration: 30 minutes
Swimming ability: LOW – Class takes place in waist and chest-deep water.

Entering the facility
- Do not attend or enter the facility if you feel generally unwell, have a new or worsening cough or fever.
- You will be required to fill out a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) before your first visit to the Recreation Centre. The PAR-Q will be updated annually.
In the Change Room
- Lockers are available to store your personal belongings. You must supply your own lock and remove all items and your lock at the end of your visit. Locks left at the end of the day will be cut off by maintenance staff.
- Showers are available for use.
- Curtained-off changing areas are available.
- A Family Change Room and Barrier Free Change Room are available for use.
Pool Dress Code
- Appropriate bathing attire must be worn when at the pool.
- Cotton t-shirts and shorts, as well as jeans and boxer shorts are NOT permitted.
Pool Rules
- Admission Standards for the pool are in effect at all times.
- Swimmers aged 6 years of age and under will be issued a RED WRISTBAND and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the water, within arms-reach, at all times
- Swimmers aged 7-10 years of age will be issued a YELLOW WRISTBAND and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the pool enclosure (on the pool deck or in the water).
- To access the deep area of the pool, swimmers must complete a facility swim test administered by the lifeguard on duty and will be issued a GREEN WRISTBAND. Swim tests will be issued at the discretion of the Leaf Lifeguard on duty.
- Please note that one guardian can supervise up to two swimmers under the age of 7.Guardians must be 16 years of age or older.
- Swimmers may bring their own equipment to use while in the pool; however, all applicable safety rules must be followed.
- Lifejackets are available for use at the pool on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The use of goggles is encouraged while in the pool. You must supply your own goggles.
- Parent & Tot Swim is reserved for parents/guardians with a child aged 7 years and under.
- Bullying, intimidation, threats or physical violence will not be tolerated at any time and will result in immediate expulsion from the facility and a revoking of all future pool privileges.
- The lifeguards have the authority to enforce all regulations.

- All membership documents and waivers must be completed before accessing facilities.
Cancellation Policy
- Failure to adhere to the rules and regulations may result in a cancelation of your membership or expulsion from the facility. A reminder that you are on camera at all times when you are using the Fitness Centre. These regulations are subject to change; the Municipality of West Nipissing reserves the right to make amendments at any time.
