COVID-19 Information

Information on local vaccination clinics and other COVID-19 related resources.

The Municipality of West Nipissing urges residents to follow public health measures as the number of COVID-19 cases in the community has increased. With the cooler weather ahead and people spending more time indoors, we must all do our part to keep each other, our families and our community safe.

Regardless of your vaccination status, screen daily for symptoms before heading out. Self-isolate and seek testing if you have any symptoms (even a mild cough or runny nose) or if you have been in contact with an individual who is symptomatic or has tested positive for COVID-19. Opting out or delaying testing increases the chance of community spread.

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is the most effective way to prevent the spread of the virus and help protect those around you that are most vulnerable. Get your first, second, or third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is available to you. Individuals 70 years of age or older and anyone eligible may see a decrease in vaccine effectiveness over time. By getting your third dose, you help to boost your immunity and better protect yourself and others from COVID-19. The Health Unit will be offering COVID-19 vaccine clinics into December and eligible individuals are encouraged to book an appointment at Ontario.ca/BookVaccine or by calling the Health Unit at 1-844-478-1400.

Simple actions and personal protective measures will go a long way to help protect our community.

Your actions matter.

  • Socialize safely. Consider the risks before gathering with others. Continue to follow public health measures and practice physical distancing.
  • Wear a face covering. A face covering is recommended when physicial distancing is a challenge and is required in enclosed public spaces.
  • Screen daily for symptoms. Before heading out, screen for COVID-19 symptoms. Self-isolate if you are showing any symptoms, or if you have been in contact with an individual who is symptomatic or has tested positive.
  • When in doubt, get tested. Make an appointment with the local Assessment Centre at 705-753-3110 ext. 357
  • Get your COVID-19 vaccine. Get your first, second or third dose as soon as it is available to you and your loved ones. Speak with a physician, pharmacist or health professional if you have any concerns.
  • Flu shot too! Cold and flu season is here! With COVID-19 circulating, we need to do all we can to stay healthy. The flu shot is available at many locations throughout the community, including local pharmacies and health care providers’ offices. The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit offers the influenza vaccine by appointment. Visit myhealthunit.ca/FluClinic or call 1-844-478-1400.
