Nature’s Trail Road Bridge Replacement
Municipal Class Environmental Assessment – Notice of Completion

The Municipality of West Nipissing has undertaken a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study under the Schedule B process, for the proposed replacement of the Nature’s Trail Bridge.  The purpose of this Class EA Study was to provide an opportunity to solicit feedback from stakeholders and agencies on this project and address any potential concerns.

Nature’s Trail Bridge is a single-span 18.3m-long Bailey Bridge that carries a single lane of traffic over Wolseley Bay. The bridge is located on Nature’s Trail Road, at the end of Wolseley Bay Road (Highway 528), approximately 16km east of NoëIville.  Due to its deteriorating condition, the bridge has been recommended for replacement.

Based on preliminary design review and consultation with stakeholders and regulatory agencies, the preferred approach remains to replace the existing bridge with a new single lane pre-fabricated modular steel bridge at the same location alignment, but with an improved waterway opening.  Environmental protection measures will be required and monitored for the duration of the bridge replacement project.

Subject to comments received under this notice, and the receipt of necessary approvals, the Municipality of West Nipissing intends to proceed with the design and construction of the above-mentioned project.
