Together, let’s celebrate our roots and our joie de vivre.

In 2010, September 25 was officially proclaimed Franco-Ontarian Day, in recognition of the Franco-Ontarian flag, which was first raised in Sudbury on September 25, 1975. Created by Gaétan Gervais and Michel Dupuis, this symbol of French culture in Ontario will celebrate its 47th anniversary this year

Flag Raising Celebration

In partnership with Les Compagnons des francs loisirs, the Municipality is extending an invitation to the community to attend a flag raising ceremony in celebration of Franco-Ontarian Day. More than 1200 students from local school boards have been invited to attend. WNFS firefighters will be assisting with the raising of the flag.

When: Friday, September 23 at 1 p.m.
Where: Goulard Park in Sturgeon Falls.

In the event of poor weather conditions, the celebration will be cancelled.
