The Water and Wastewater Department tests fire hydrants and flushes watermains throughout the municipal water distribution systems on a seasonal basis.

Hydrants are opened and allowed to flow in a controlled manner in one direction, cleaning out the sediment inside the pipes. A complete flushing for all of Sturgeon Falls, Cache Bay and Verner will take place over the next few weeks.

Flushing will begin in Sturgeon Falls on April 8, 2024, starting North of Highway 17. Signage will be posted in affected areas and updates will be provided as we transition to other locations.

The work may cause some minimal discolouration and a temporary loss of water pressure. If you notice brown water in your water service line, run a cold water tap for approximately 15 minutes, until the water runs clear.

If the issue persists, please submit a service request or call 705-753-2250
