On June 6, 2023, the Municipal Council for the Municipality of West Nipissing passed a new by-law to regulate the use of municipal beaches. By-law 2023-52 was adopted to ensure that our public beaches remain safe and enjoyable for all users. New signage outlining the regulations and hours of operation will be installed at all municipal beaches.

Key By-law Highlights

Closing hours: municipal beaches will be closed from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

  • No open fires, bonfires, or barbecues are permitted – this includes charcoal, or propane fuelled cookers 
  • Loudspeakers, amplifying equipment or any contravention of the Municipal Noise Control By-law are prohibited 
  • No littering or dumping of any leaves, grass clippings, snow, waste or hazardous material
  • No camping, lodging or overnight parking 
  • No alcohol permitted on the premises
  • Motorized recreational vehicles are not permitted on municipal beaches except at designated parking areas
  • Pets must be kept on a leash and are not permitted in the swimming area 
  • Zero tolerance for violent and threatening conduct or abusive/profane language
