The Municipality of West Nipissing is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $549,504 in funding through the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Connecting Links Program. The project involves the rehabilitation of Highway 64 from Dufferin Street to Sabourin Road. The work is expected to be completed during the 2025 construction season.
This infrastructure project will see the rehabilitation of a 770-metre section of Highway 64, significantly improving road conditions and enhancing safety for both residents and travelers. The total project area encompasses approximately 6,860 square metres, with an additional 700 square metres of work at intersections.
The approved project includes:
- Milling and paving of the entire 6,860m² roadway surface
- Rebuilding of five maintenance holes
- Resurfacing with asphalt
- Replacement of two 1200mm twin culverts
The Connecting Links Program provides funding to eligible municipalities to repair roadways and bridges that connect two ends of a provincial highway through a community. The program covers up to 90% of eligible project costs, helping small and rural municipalities invest in critical transportation networks.
