The Municipality of West Nipissing has been awarded $754,637 through the Ontario government’s Housing‑Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF II) to support the Bourgault Street Water, Sanitary and Storm Upgrade project.
The project involves the replacement and expansion of a watermain, sanitary sewers, and stormwater drainage along Bourgault Street, to enhance capacity and reliability. Work is scheduled to start by September 30, 2025, and be completed by March 31, 2028, in accordance with HEWSF II guidelines. The 2025 portion of the work involves design and is estimated to cost $50,000.
This infrastructure work aligns with the provincial aim to unlock new housing potential. HEWSF II targets projects that support up to 107,000 new homes province-wide. Launched in April 2024, HEWSF is a provincial program investing $325 million across 23 municipalities in its second intake, focusing on core infrastructure that supports housing, public health, and economic growth.
