It is mandatory for any property owner operating a short-term rental to hold a valid license, as outlined in By-law 2024/23 (adopted in April 2024). Short-term rental owners are reminded to take the necessary steps to obtain the appropriate license if they haven’t yet done so. The issuance of fines will begin this summer for those who are operating without a license.

A short-term rental accommodation is described as a home or part of a dwelling being rented for a short period of time (up to 28 days) in exchange for payment. It includes bed and breakfast establishments, but excludes businesses such as campgrounds, motels, or similar commercial operations.

The regulation ensures that all short-term rental operations in West Nipissing are conducted in a professional manner, promoting the safety and well-being of residents and visitors. For further information on licenses in West Nipissing, please visit the Licensing and Permits page.
