Public Notice: Changes to Recycling Drop-Off Depots Effective January 1, 2026

Municipal recycling drop-off depots across Ontario will be closing or changing operations effective January 1, 2026, as part of Ontario’s transition to a producer-funded Blue Box recycling system operated by Circular Materials. Under this new system, responsibility for recycling shifts from municipalities to producers.

Curbside recycling will remain the primary method of collection. While some unstaffed recycling depots (public recycling bins) will be discontinued, residents will continue to have access to recycling services at municipal landfill sites and select depot locations.

Recycling Drop-Off Locations Remaining Available

Residents will continue to have access to recycling services at the following locations:

  • Sturgeon Falls Landfill
  • Verner Landfill
  • Field Landfill
  • Kipling Landfill
  • Lavigne Landfill
  • River Valley Landfill
  • Crystal Falls Depot (boat launch on Crystal Falls Road)
  • Monetville Depot (7198 Highway 64)

Recycling Depots to Be Discontinued

The following unstaffed recycling depots (public recycling bins) will be discontinued as of January 1, 2026:

Verner Depot – Bins located at the Verner Arena will be removed. Residents can drop off recycling at the Verner Landfill.

Field Depot – Bins located at 106 Larocque Street will be removed. Residents can drop off recycling at the Field Landfill.

Muskosung Landfill Depot – Bins at the Muskosung Landfill will be removed. Residents can drop off recycling at the Field Landfill.
