Experience the natural beauty of our community year-round.

Cross-country ski through beautiful, groomed trails at the West Nipissing Nordic Ski Club, or explore kilometres of snowshoe trails at the Club or the Sturgeon River House Museum.

Travel through over 330 km of groomed snowmobile trails in our community, which connect to surrounding Trans-Ontario Provincial trail systems. Our local trails are groomed and maintained by the West Nipissing Snowmobile Club.

The West Nipissing Nordic Ski Club

After January 1st every year, the Ski Club offers cross-country skiing on 13 km of groomed and tracked cross-country ski trails, and 12 km of snow packed snowshoeing trails on the Sturgeon Falls Rod and Gun Club property. With a heated chalet, the Club is located about 4 km north off of Trans-Canada Highway 17.

The Sturgeon River House Museum

The Sturgeon River House Museum has 1km of low-impact walking or snowshoeing trails with scenery overlooking Lake Nipissing. Snowshoe rentals are available at the Museum during regular business hours.

*The Sturgeon River House Museum is closed until further notice. The Nature Trails remain open, but please be mindful of other hikers and maintain physical distancing.

Snowmobiling in West Nipissing

Located in District 11 of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC), the West Nipissing Snowmobile Club grooms and maintains over 330 km of trails, linking the community with other Trans-Ontario Provincial Trails in Sudbury, Temagami, French River, and the Temiskaming/Quebec border.
