Public Notice
Take notice that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of West Nipissing will hold a Special Meeting under Section 26(3)(b) of the Planning Act, to provide members of the public an opportunity to share comments and discuss the revisions that may be required to the Official Plan with Council.
The Municipality invites all interested parties to also attend the Public Open Houses to provide feedback and ask questions about the proposed Official Plan with municipal staff and the consultant team.
Date: Thursday, February 5, 2026
Location: Council Chambers, 225 Holditch Street, Sturgeon Falls
- Open House on Agricultural Policies: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Open House on All Policies: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Special Meeting of Council : 7 p.m.
The Official Plan affects all lands within the Municipality by setting out the policy objectives for the long-term growth and development of the community and establishing where land uses should be located. The purpose of the new Official Plan is to update the policies in accordance with new provincial policy and to ensure it reflects the community’s current and future needs.
How to participate
1) Watch the meeting live on the Municipality’s YouTube Channel: youtube.com/@westnipissingouest-joiedev2129/
2) Speak to Council in-person at the Special Council Meeting.
3) Speak to Council Virtually at the Special Council Meeting. Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, February 3, 2026. To pre-register, email officialplan@westnipissing.ca and provide your full name, address, and telephone number. You will receive a confirmation email with instructions for participating prior to the meeting date.
4) Speak at the Open House(s) with the project team.
5) Submit Written Comments by email to officialplan@westnipissing.ca, using the comment form on the project website, or by dropping comments off in person at the municipal office. Written comments must be submitted by January 29, 2026 in order to be circulated to Council prior to the meeting.
All comments addressed to Council and/or the project team will form part of the public record.
