Our outdoor rinks are valuable recreational spaces for the community, and our rink attendants work hard to maintain them for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
Recently, the outdoor rink building at Cache Bay has experienced repeated vandalism. Unfortunately, if this behaviour continues, the building may need to be closed to the public.
There have also been instances of snowmobiles being driven on the Verner Outdoor Rink. This creates a serious safety risk and can damage the ice surface. Motorized vehicles are strictly prohibited on public outdoor rinks and within parks to protect both the ice and park infrastructure.
Shared spaces come with shared responsibilities. Let’s all do our part to protect our community spaces so they remain open and enjoyable for all. We appreciate parents and guardians helping to encourage youth to respect these facilities.
