UPDATE: SIGNIFICANT WEATHER EVENT LIFTED AS OF MARCH 17, 2026
The Municipality of West Nipissing has declared a Significant Weather Event due to current and forecasted hazardous weather conditions, effective Monday, March 16, 2026, and continuing until further notice.
This declaration is issued in accordance with Ontario Regulation 239/02 under the Municipal Act.
This declaration suspends the standard timelines required for municipalities to meet their winter maintenance objectives until the Municipality declares the Significant Weather Event has ended. Once the event has ended, standard timelines for winter maintenance activities will resume.
All municipal roads and sidewalks maintained by the Municipality of West Nipissing are considered to be in a “state of repair” until the declaration has ended.
Drivers and pedestrians are urged to use extra caution when travelling, as conditions may be hazardous and it may take longer than usual for crews to restore roads and sidewalks to normal winter conditions.
Municipal crews will continue working to maintain roads and sidewalks during this event. The Municipality appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as crews work to keep the community safe.
An update will be provided once the Significant Weather Event has ended.
