Blue Box Recycling Program
As of July 2, 2025, the Municipality will no longer be managing residential recycling in West Nipissing. All Ontario municipalities will have transitioned to the provincial blue box program by January 2026.
Circular Materials, a not-for-profit organization, is managing recycling programs across the province and is currently working with the Municipality to ensure a smooth transition. GFL Environmental Inc. has been retained by the province to handle recycling collection at the curb and at recycling depots. West Nipissing Environmental Services will continue to collect curbside garbage on a weekly basis, on the same day as usual.
Good to know:
- Mid-June, GFL Environmental Inc. (and/or it’s sub-contractors) will distribute the new recycling carts to every household that currently receives curbside collection. If a house has been missed, residents are asked to report it to 1-888-796-4352 or c29recycling@gflenv.com.
- Beginning on July 2, residents will report missed collections or recycling-related requests directly to GFL Environmental.
- In 2026, Circular Materials will release a recycling app similar to the one that is currently available to West Nipissing residents.
This operational change involves many households. Residents are asked to be patient during the transition. The support team will be happy to assist with any concerns or to help report any inconsistencies. For contact information, please consult: circularmaterials.ca/resident-communities/west-nipissing/.
Landfills and Recycling Depots
- All local landfills will operate as usual.
- All local recycling depots will operate as usual.
- Commercial/non-residential recycling collection by West Nipissing Environmental Services will be discontinued as of July 2025. Businesses and organizations are asked to find a recycling contractor for this service.
Recyclable materials should not be disposed of in garbage containers or in local landfills. Proper diversion of recyclables remains essential to our environmental responsibilities and waste reduction efforts.
Curbside Garbage Collection
- West Nipissing Environmental Services will continue to collect curbside waste on a weekly basis, on the same day as usual.
- As of July 8, curbside garbage collection will be offered in Field, Kipling and River Valley.
