Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the West Nipissing area, with severely hot conditions expected from July 13 to 16, 2026.
The Municipality of West Nipissing is encouraging residents to take precautions to protect themselves from the heat and to check in on family members, neighbours and friends who may be more vulnerable, including older adults, young children, individuals with chronic health conditions and those without access to air conditioning.
Residents looking for relief from the heat are welcome to visit municipal facilities and local libraries during regular business hours. Residents are also encouraged to cool off at local splash parks, public beaches, shaded parks.

To stay safe during periods of extreme heat:
- Drink plenty of water, even before you feel thirsty.
- Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Wear lightweight, light-coloured clothing and seek shade whenever possible.
- Never leave children or pets unattended in a parked vehicle.
- Check regularly on neighbours, friends and loved ones who may need assistance.
