Please be advised that the Municipality of West Nipissing will be replacing an important watermain component at the intersection of Ethel Street and Nipissing Street in September 2026. The work is part of the Municipality’s ongoing investment in the water supply network to improve reliability and provide additional backup capacity.
Important Details
Cooperation from households and businesses in Sturgeon Falls and Cache Bay will be essential during this portion of the project. The operations management team anticipates the upgrade will be completed over the course of two overnight work periods:
- Morning of Thursday, September 24, 2026 – Midnight to 4 a.m.
- Morning of Tuesday, September 29, 2026 – Midnight to 4 a.m.
The public is asked not to use water between midnight and 4 a.m. on either date.
On the evenings of September 23 and 28, households and businesses are asked to:
- Turn off automatic sprinklers and irrigation systems.
- Avoid running dishwashers, washing machines or other water-using appliances.
During the work periods, businesses and organisations equipped with fire suppression sprinkler systems may get notifications from their system indicating a drop in water pressure.
Although water will remain available during the work periods, the system will be operating at reduced capacity. Limiting water use will allow crews to complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible while helping to preserve the available system capacity.
Additional Information
Residents may notice reduced water pressure following the work periods. Temporary water discolouration may also occur when normal service resumes. If this happens, run a cold-water tap for a few minutes until the water runs clear.
Local emergency response will be maintained throughout the project. Fire protection crews are prepared to respond using alternative water supplies if needed.
