The Municipality of West Nipissing has temporarily adjusted how notices for planning and land use applications are being distributed. As per the Planning Act, notifications are ordinarily mailed out to neighbouring properties when a landowner applies for a zoning by-law amendment, minor variance, consent (i.e., right-of-way, lot severance, easement, etc.) or plan of subdivision.

Due to delays related to the Canada Post strike, mailed notifications will arrive later than expected. A new web page was created to ensure public access to the information and to ensure compliance with legislated notification requirements. All active planning applications will now be available online at westnipissing.ca/active-planning-applications/.

Additional notification measures include:

  • Physical signs on the property in question.
  • Online notices on the Active Planning Applications page.
  • Direct emails to residents who have requested updates.
