The Municipality of West Nipissing is reminding residents of the importance of keeping fire hydrants clear and accessible during the winter months. Following a snowfall, snow and ice accumulation can obstruct hydrants, creating critical delays for firefighters responding to emergencies.
In an emergency, every second matters. Residents are asked to assist emergency services by ensuring fire hydrants are easy to locate and to access by maintaining a 3-foot (1-meter) minimum clearance around the hydrants.
