The Municipality of West Nipissing advises residents that Council has approved changes to the winter operating hours at two municipal landfill sites. These updates apply to the Field Landfill and Lavigne Landfill and will take effect in December 2025.
The adjustments were made to address safety concerns. Neither landfill is equipped with lighting at drop-off areas, which creates safety and liability concerns for residents and municipal staff during the winter months when daylight hours are shorter. To enhance safety for everyone, Council approved adjustments to the operating hours. The issue was discussed during the October 23, 2025 meeting of Council.
Field Landfill – Winter Hours (October 1 to May 1)
- Sunday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Monday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Lavigne Landfill – Winter Hours (October 1 to May 1)
- Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
