TAKE NOTICE THATon July 14, 2026, the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of West Nipissing passed By-law 2026-54 to adopt a new Official Plan, pursuant to Section 17 of the Planning Act. The Official Plan was prepared pursuant to Section 26 of the Planning Act to apply comprehensive provincial land use and planning policies while also addressing local priorities.
PURPOSE AND EFFECT
The Official Plan affects all lands within the Municipality by setting out the policy objectives for the long-term growth and development of the community and establishing where land uses should be located. The purpose and effect of the adopted Official Plan is to update the policies in accordance with new provincial policy and to ensure it reflects the community’s current and future needs.

WRITTEN AND ORAL SUBMISSIONS
Public consultation on the Official Plan was undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the Planning Act. All written and oral submissions regarding the Official Plan were given full consideration and where appropriate, recommendations have been incorporated into the Plan.
NEXT STEPS
The Council of the Municipality of West Nipissing’s decision to adopt the Official Plan is not subject to appeal.
Pursuant to Section 17 of the Planning Act, the Official Plan adopted by Council will be forwarded to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing as the approval authority. Once received and processed, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing will review and approve the Official Plan, after which it will come into force and effect and will replace the existing Official Plan.
