The Municipality of West Nipissing is currently seeking interested applicants who are required to adhere to codes of standards of their profession, and other individuals with in-depth knowledge of the campaign financing rules of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, for appointment to the 2026 General Municipal Election Joint Compliance Audit Committee.
Applicants with a background in accounting, auditing or law are encouraged to apply.
Applicants shall have:
- demonstrated knowledge and in-depth understanding of the campaign financing rules of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996;
- proven analytical and decision-making skills;
- experience working on committees, task forces or similar settings;
- demonstrated knowledge of quasi-judicial proceedings;
- availability and willingness to attend meetings (day and/or evening); and
- excellent oral and written communication skills.
The purpose of the 2026 Municipal Election Joint Compliance Audit Committee is to:
- consider compliance audit applications made by electors and decide whether they should be granted or rejected;
- appoint an auditor if the application is granted;
- receive the auditor’s report;
- consider the auditor’s report and decide if legal proceedings should be commenced; and
- give directions accordingly and recover the costs of conducting the compliance audit from the applicant if no apparent contraventions are found.
The term of the Committee will commence on December 1, 2026 and continue through November 30, 2030.
