UPDATE (February 5, 2026)
Following resident feedback, Municipal Council has reversed its previous decision. Access to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot in North Bay will continue. Click here to see the most up to date notice on Household Hazardous Waste services.

______

The Municipality of West Nipissing is informing residents that access to the Household Hazardous Waste Depot in North Bay will be discontinued for the year 2026. Council approved the termination of the service agreement at its January 22, 2026 meeting due to substantial pricing increases to annual fees.

As an alternative, household hazardous waste will be collected locally at a designated site on a specific date. Details regarding West Nipissing’s Household Hazardous Waste Day, planned for June 2026, will be shared in the coming weeks.

Residents are encouraged to help protect local wildlife and waterways by ensuring hazardous waste is not placed at the curb or in local landfills. Items such as leftover aerosols, oils, chemicals, batteries, light bulbs, and medications can pose risks to both the environment and human health if not handled correctly.
