On November 15, 2022, Council of the Municipality of West Nipissing was inaugurated to serve the community during the 2022-2026 term.

The inaugural meeting, held at the West Nipissing Council Chambers, was well attended by friends and family of the elected officials, as well as community partners and media representatives. The mayor and eight councilors were sworn in by the Honourable Colin McMorrow of the Ontario Court of Justice. A reception followed the Mayor’s address.

Newly elected Mayor Kathleen Thorne Rochon, gave an enthusiastic speech. “A special thank you to the people of West Nipissing, especially those who engaged in the election process, who took the time to speak with us and share their experiences, concerns and aspirations. You have given us countless excellent suggestions and this collection of ideas can only make our community thrive. Your voices will help guide us.”

The next Council Meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Council meetings are open to the public and available for viewing on the municipal YouTube channel.
