The Municipality of West Nipissing is providing a progress update regarding access to the Field boat launch.
Earlier this year, the Municipality learned through a property survey that the Field launch pad is located on private property. When the issue was brought to Council, they confirmed their commitment to maintaining boat launch access in Field. Discussions with the property owners ensued in an effort to reach an agreement for continued public use. Unfortunately, an agreement was not reached.
At that time, Council directed staff to pursue the construction of a new launch on the adjacent municipal property. Construction will begin in 2026 and access will be fully restored by spring 2027. The Municipality is currently working to obtain the required permits from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) for construction of the new launch.
