[West Nipissing, ON] –The Front Street resurfacing project in the downtown core, between Holditch and Michaud Street, began in June of 2024. This project is largely funded by the Government of Ontario’s Connecting Links Program through the Ontario Builds Infrastructure Plan. Work is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2024, weather permitting.

The resurfacing project, which includes work to curbs and catch basins, aims to add longevity to municipal infrastructure and to improve stormwater management. The newly paved road will support safer travel, while the upgraded drainage will help manage water runoff, protecting both roadways and surrounding properties.

The Connecting Link 2024-2025 Program brings $274,752 of funding, supporting the total project cost $305,280. While the Connecting Link 2023-2025 Program provides $1,022,132 of funding, supporting the total project cost $1,135,700.

The Connecting Links Program helps to fund the repair and construction of municipal roads and bridges that connect two ends of a provincial highway through a community. The Ontario Builds Infrastructure Plan is investing over $190 billion into schools, hospitals, public transit, roads, bridges and access to high-speed internet.
